FAQ about Helios

YOU HAD QUESTIONS, WE'VE GOT ANSWERS

We love to get questions from our community, and in this update, we're digging deeper into Helios. What can you expect, how does it work and more questions, are to be answered in the following blog.

Can you tell us a bit more about the concept of Helios?

Explore new worlds with Helios, your trusted old spaceship. Collect resources and valuable upgrades as you pilot your craft across different planets by the power of your own pedaling. Navigate the best possible paths and avoid obstacles as you work your way through the different segments of your interplanetary expedition. Never forget that Helios is a rugged ship, so there’s a limit to the beating it can take. Hit too many obstacles and you’ll have to start from scratch. Oh, did we mention that the road might crumble beneath you? Well, there's that. But just keep pedaling fast and you’ll do just fine.

What kind of game is Helios?

Helios is our first Roguelite, lane runner game that has kept us pedaling for hours while in development.

Is Helios a multiplayer game?

Helios is a single-player game, with multiple levels. Once you start hunting down all the resources on the planet you’re currently on, you’ll soon see that it’s a game full of challenges that you’ll love to attack on your own. You can however compete with others both online and locally by chasing the highest scores on both respective leaderboards.

What’s the difference between roguelike and roguelite games?

Roguelites favor short gameplay runs with specific victory conditions, in contrast to some traditional roguelikes that can be played indefinitely.

How many lives do I have?

7, but you obtain different rewards throughout the game which can directly affect your life count too.

How is haptic feedback integrated into Helios?

During each level you will need to navigate your way past different obstacles, and each time you hit one of these obstacles the controller will vibrate in your hands, adding to the immersive experience felt within every PlayPulse game.

How do the reward-system and the leaderboards work on Helios?

As you continue your journey through each planet, you collect coins and resources that ultimately add up to points. You also collect certain power ups that each hold different in-game benefits, some of which will allow you to double your coin count as an example. Once all your lives have been used up, your final tally of points are calculated and the result then places you on the Helios leaderboard, where you can compare your score with family and friends.

How does the timer work on each level?

Each level is timed to ensure you keep those pedals moving. Remember, the faster you pedal, the faster you move in the game. If you continue to pedal too fast though, you’ll see yourself hitting too many obstacles and losing all your lives. If you don’t keep up the pace, you automatically forfeit your lives and your race is over. It introduces an exciting element of strategy and skill which will leave you wanting more.

More updates on the Helios experience are being worked on constantly to keep the game fresh and exciting every time you get on the bike, and we will be more than happy to keep you up to scratch with all the epic details as we journey along the way.
